Women in the Wilderness

There are many places where women can go to for an exclusively female excursion, but what do they all offer? While some are about connection to nature and whats around you others are about connecting with the people on the trip with you. Difficulty varies too, some are there for a challenge and some for more of a get away type of thing.

Points unknown is a program with dogsledding adventures for women. What makes this unique is yes you bond with nature and with the others who go, but for the most part you bond with your dog team. You don't need your own team, you don't even have to know how to dogsled, all you need is a love for dogs and the outdoors. Does help to be up for some work though, otherwise things might be miserable. You must take care of your dogs for the trip, which means things like feeding them and preparing dog houses with hay in them in freezing weather. This is an amazing experience for dog lovers who don't mind being on their own, just them and their dogs.

Adventures in Good Company are not quite as intense as Points Unknown but they still push you close to your limits, well depending on what they are, but for the average person. These adventures are mainly bonding with other women on the trip, building trust and other things that tend to be more important while in the wilderness. This is not however limited to one thing, there are all types of adventures you can go on depending on the season. While with Points Unknown there is only dogsledding, with Adventures in Good Company there is Hiking, canoeing, horse back ridding and many others.
Women's Outdoor Adventures is some of connecting with people and some about nature. The way I understand it is connecting to people about how you are connecting to the nature. To help others experience something amazing. The owner Jayne King wishes people to feel the magic she feels "The mountains feed my spirit. My greatest wish is to help others to experience that same sense of calmness and connection to nature." Says King. In a way it's connection to people, but mainly it's to feel the serenity in the real wilderness.
